Filipino Style Spaghetti Recipe


Filipino Style Spaghetti is made of red spaghetti sauce ingredients like tomato sauce or banana ketchup with red hotdogs and ground pork or beef. Aside from the color of spaghetti, unique blend of tastes - a balance of sweetness, saltiness and spiciness may consider that is why many Filipino especially kids like this recipe and always served during Christmas, birthday, fiesta, or any celebration even in simple gathering.



Spaghetti is originated in Italian cuisine, it is frequently served with tomato sauce, which may contain various herbs (especially oregano and basil), olive oil, meat, or vegetables.

Try this sweet Filipino style spaghetti at your home, I'm sure it will satisfy your taste buds. =)

Good for serving: 5 - 6 persons

Filipino Style Spaghetti Ingredients:
  • 1/2 kg of thick spaghetti
  • 1/2 kg regular ground beef or pork
  • 3 hotdogs or sausages, sliced slanted
  • 2 medium onions, diced
  • 2 small cloves garlic, mince
  • 3 tbsps cooking oil
  • 1/2 cup evaporated or fresh milk
  • 1/2 cup grated tasty cheese
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 cup banana ketchup
  • 1 cup tomato sauce 
  • cornstarch slurry (about 1/2 cup water + 2 tbsp cornstarch)
  • salt & pepper
  • water
Filipino Style Spaghetti Cooking Instruction:
  1. In medium-high, heat 2 tbsps. cooking oil in a large frying pan and sauté garlic and onions till transparent.  
  2. Add ground beef and stir, make sure you break down the meat clumps.  
  3. Add pinch of salt and pepper over the ground beef.  
  4. Once the ground beef are all evenly browned, add in hotdogs and cook about a minute.
  5. Pour in tomato sauce, ketchup, 1/2 cup of water, cheese and milk. Stir the sauce well on each addition. Reduce the heat to simmering stage.
  6. Add sugar and cornflour slurry then stir quickly it in to the sauce to avoid lumps.  
  7. Cook the sauce till it becomes slightly thickened, remove from stove and set aside.
  8. Boil 2 liters of water with a good pinch of salt, before the boiling point add 1 tbsp. cooking oil.
  9. Once the water is boiling pour in the pasta.  
  10. Reduce heat to medium and simmer the pasta for 10-14 minutes or until it is soft but not overcook.
  11. Pour the spaghetti over a colander to remove water.
  12. In a large oven proof bowl, place the drained pasta and pour over 75% of the sauce and mix them together. (Optional: add another 1/2 cup of grated tasty cheese while mixing) 
  13. Top with the leftover sauce and add more extra cheese. 
  14. Serve with side dish fried chicken.
