Banana con Yelo

Banana con Yelo or Saging con Yelo (Sweet Plantain with Ice) is simple refreshment in the Philippines.It is made with Saba bananas which is commonly found in parts of Asia especially the Philippines. The dish is similar to minatamis na saging except the crushed ice on top is popular in the summer and its easy to prepare.
Good for serving: 3 - 4 persons

Banana Con Yelo Ingredients:
  • 1/2 or 1 kilo Plantain ( Banana Saba )
  • 1/2 kilo Brown Sugar
  • 2pcs. pandan leaves
  • Evaporated Milk ~ or Fresh Milk
  • Crushed Ice

Halo-Halo Cooking Instruction:
  1. Boil the plantains first for about 10 minutes.
  2. Place water, pandan leaves and brown sugar into casserole.
  3. Turn the heat to medium then cook the sugar until it melt. Peel then add Plantains into casserole then stir.
  4. When plantains are coated with caramel that you made then turn the heat off and let it cool for 2-5 minutes.
  5. Then cool it down for few minutes, Then add 2-3 pcs. of caramel coated plantain in a small bowl. Add a cup of crushed ice on top and add some evaporated milk.
  6. Enjoy and share!
